All is set for tomorrow’s Boxing Day horseracing action at the Kennard Memorial Turf Club situated at Bush Lot Farm, Corentyne.
Some $3M in cash and trophies and other prizes are available and eight races are listed to be contested during the day. DDL is sponsoring the entire day’s activity, which is expected to be filled with action. Entries have closed and over 65 horses have already taken entry in what is expected to be one of the biggest race meets on the racing calendar for the year.
With all the race tracks in the country making tremendous strides in improving their facilities, the authorities at the Kennard Memorial Turf club has also put in a lot of work so as to keep abreast.
The double Decker stand has been repainted, the track has been upgraded and new rails have been constructed, while new toilet facilities with running water have been installed.
Highlighting the days programme will be the feature B class and lower event over a distance of 7 furlongs, with first prize of $350,000 up for the takings an exciting field has already taken entry.
The race is already being dubbed the revenge. The sensational Isle Be True will be looking leave its opponents in its wake with horses such as Sequin, Little Pannie, Fire Power, the Gap, Laura Lee in Flight, Gold, Sir Balajee and Finally Jade already entered and will be looking for revenge.
Another feature event is the three-years-old open race which will be run over a distance of one mile and has $275,000 for the winner. Jumbo Joy, Bad News, the Gap, Pinch the Cash, Tropical Passion and Luv You De as the main contenders. This event is expected to be a scorcher.
Sweet Romance, Coconut Boy, Prince Warrior, Sun Dancer, Prixie Fier, Run for The Roses and De Lyon will be roaring down the stretch in the Two Year old six furlong event with $200,000 first prize for the taking.
The F and lower event has a similar $200,000 purse over six furlongs, with the likes of Mattarazzi, Fire Power, Rude Boy, Brave Heart and Fairy Tale Romance expecting to blaze the trail.
The H class 7 furlongs event carries a first prize of $140,000. The first prize for the I and Lower six furlong event is $120,000.
The K and L winner will take away $110,000. The distance is six furlongs, while the winner of the L class non winners category which, will be a five furlong event, will collect $100,000.
Despite recent rainfall the authorities of the track is assuring the racing public that all systems are in place and the track will not be affected because much rain has not been falling in the ancient county and the track is drying fast.
