Last week Sunday, the Banks DIH Sports Club was transformed into every child’s dream as the Rotary Club of Stabroek hosted its annual Christmas party for some 300 children benefiting from its vocational projects at Buxton, Nismes, La Grange and Bagotville.
The laughter and cries of joy of children could be heard from afar as they welcomed Santa Claus who distributed toys and other goodies to each child.
Rotarians worked assiduously to select, wrap and sort gifts for Santa so as to ensure that each child received the perfect Christmas gift to unwrap. The Christmas party also provided each child with a sumptuous meal and a lucky-packet to take home.
Christmas carols and party music played throughout the clamour of excited children and a festive mood permeated the atmosphere.
The objective of the outreach was to expose children to the festivity of the Christmas season.
The philanthropic gesture was made possible through the unselfish support of Stabroek Rotarians, UNICEF, Demerara Distillers Limited, Car Care, DeSinco Trading, Ansa Mc Al Trading, Banks DIH Ltd, COPS Guyana Ltd and John Lewis Styles.
The initiative emphasized the commitment of Rotary Stabroek to its community service mandate.
