In an effort to see the completion of the Mora Point Health Centre, Mahaicony River, the New Jersey Arya Samaj Mandir has donated US$1,000 towards the construction of the health centre.
The donation came as a result of the pleas made by the President of the Mahaicony Cultural and Humanitarian Association (MCHA) in New York, Srad Kublall, for funds to help complete the centre.
The project is estimated to cost approximately US$60,000 and most of the money was raised by the MCHA in New York.
It was noted that the construction is expected to be completed next March.
The money donated by the organisation was part of the proceeds from a fund-raising event titled an “Evening of Hope”.
This event was held in September in New Jersey.
The Mora Point Health Centre is a community outreach programme that will benefit the entire community in Mora Point, located some 60 miles south of the East Demerara Public Road and as such it was explained that the health center will be of great assistance to the children and seniors in the entire community.
President of the overseas organization, Pandit Suresh Sugrim, said that the money was donated on behalf of all the donors, contributors, sponsors and caregivers who have entrusted him with their donations.
A further donation of US$200 was made by the organization through Pandit Chandrakali Singh of Holland, who was impressed with the charitable donation.
The organisation is also soliciting funds for the Mahaicony Health Centre.
