As part of the celebration of the 30th Anniversary of China’s opening of the China Reform Policy, the Chinese Embassy in Guyana yesterday launched an art exhibition at the National Museum.
The exhibition comprised some 65 photos, taken from different provinces in China. The photos featured persons, landscape and buildings, along with different pieces of infrastructure.
Many persons attending the exhibition commented that the photography was impressive, while marvelling at China’s rich culture and history.
According to the Chinese Ambassador to Guyana, Zhang Jungao, tremendous changes have taken place in China over the past 30 years, both economically and socially. The various photos on display at the exhibition depicted that change.
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Dr. Frank Anthony, explained that his ministry was happy that the embassy held the exhibition to further enlighten Guyanese on the advances being made in China.
The minister noted that exhibition was not unique, citing that previously there was a similar photo exhibition prior to the Beijing Olympic Games.
Further exhibitions and intercultural exchanges are likely in the near future, said the minister.
“Such exhibitions help to strengthen bilateral relations,” he added.
“In the different photos, you can see many different things that we can learn from,” explained Anthony, as he noted that China is one of the economic powerhouses of the world today, and is an excellent example for a developing nation to emulate.
Approximately 50 persons were at the opening of the exhibition, including many Chinese nationals.
