Local Lodge spreads Christmas cheer

Mount Olive Lodge No. 1, of the Independent United Order of Mechanics, recently took Christmas cheer to the children of Joshua House on Thomas Street, Georgetown and to the Red Cross Convalescent Home, D’Urban Back Lands.
Among the articles donated to Joshua House were exercise books, pens, pencils, sharpeners, toilet and laundry soaps, toothpaste, toothbrushes, mouthwash, toilet tissues, disinfectant, toilet bowl cleaner, milk powder, paper towels, and story books.
Bro. Carlton Peters, Illustrative Grand of the Lodge, made the presentation in the presence of Grand Master Carlton Hopkinson, Bro. Michael Blair and Bro. Benjamin Williams.
Receiving the items was Mr. Clifford Accra, Administrator of Joshua House.
The Lodge also visited The Red Cross Convalescent Home where the members treated nearly 50 children to breakfast.
The gestures were well received by the Administrators of both institutions, and the children involved.
Grand Master Hopkinson said that the Lodge is a branch of the Araunah District Grand Lodge (Guyana) with headquarters in New York, USA.
