Two men on a motorcycle yesterday escaped with millions of dollars in cash after they held a phone card dealer at gunpoint on Mandela Avenue.
Reports are that the incident occurred some time around 14:30 hours just outside of the Citizens’ Bank outlet on Mandela Avenue.
According to a police source, the men escaped with some $6.5M in cash.
This newspaper was told that the phone card vendor was about to make a deposit at the bank outlet when he was attacked.
An eyewitness told this newspaper that the man had just crossed Mandela Avenue and was approaching the bank outlet when a man walked up to him and held him at gunpoint ordering him to hand over a bag he was carrying.
According to the eyewitness, the man who approached the phone card dealer was ‘red skinned’ while his accomplice who was waiting on a motorcycle sported dreadlocks.
