The Mayor and City Council has expressed its profound sadness and shock at the passing of Councillor Allan Chin, Justice of the Peace and Commissioner of Oaths to Affidavits.
Deputy Major of Georgetown, Robert Williams, who is currently acting as mayor, said that he was associated with Chin since 1974, when he had political responsibility for Central Georgetown.
Chin later became a Member of Parliament under the People’s National Congress, a capacity which he maintained for some time. He subsequently became an active member of the Good and Green Guyana, a political party founded by Mr Hamilton Green, and was a candidate for the municipal elections in 1994.
Chin was described by Deputy Mayor Williams as a person who vigorously represented the concerns of the Stabroek and surrounding areas.
“He would surely be missed.” Chin is survived by his wife and children.
