While the majority of teams would have to depend on natural light for training sessions as they prepare for the annual Kashif and Shanghai (K&S) tournament, Sunburst Camptown has received a timely contribution of lights from Modda Griff General Construction of 51 Sheriff Street, Campbellville.

President of Camptown Troy Mendonca in explaining the reason for approaching Modda Griff for the lights said that at the end of the year, day light fades very quickly and at around 17:45hrs it is dark.
“You can’t expect to train for a 90 minute or 120 minute game in 45 minutes. The other challenge is the fact that a number of our players are working late during this Christmas season and would come to practice after 18:00hrs so we decided to approach Mr. Griffith to assist and he never hesitated.”
Mendonca also said that they were using the Tucville ground for training sessions but because of the current weather pattern, two teams cannot use the facility to train. Camptown started using the lights on Thursday evening and the initial period would be six days which carries an estimated cost of $180,000.
General Manager Keith Griffith pointed out that his company was happy to be a part of Camptown by way of providing lights for the team to train for the Kashif and Shanghai tournament.
“We would like to see something positive coming out of this for the youths in Campbellville and we are optimistic that this year Camptown will bring home the trophy from Kashif and Shanghai as such encouraging the Campbellville youths to be a bit more proactive in terms of positive thinking and being involved in positive activities.”
Griffith said it could be football basketball or any other sport they just want this contribution to inspire and encourage the youths to get involved in things that are positive which would give them a constructive outlook to life and at the same time help them to forget about the negative things that would seek to discourage them even in these difficult times we are all enduring.
Camptown will get into action on day three of the K&S, December 19 at the Tucville ground against Eagles United of Linden, the first game of a Linden/Georgetown double header. The feature game will see BK International Western Tigers opposing Blue Berry Hill.
