– South Turkeyen 4-a-side football set for today
Joseph Cummings with a top-score of 6 games and Naomi Greaves, who ended on 4 games were declared the respective champions of the Ex- Guyana Defence Force King and Queen Domino Competition which was played recently at the Legionnaires Hall.
Cummings defeated R. George, who ended on 4 games, while Greaves came home ahead of Annette Adonis, also on 4 games.
Trophies were presented to the winners by Retired Major Rodwell King and Chris Thompson.
Meanwhile, the South Turkeyen Sports Committee has organised a 4-a-side football and penalty shootout competition which will be played today at the Vryheid’s Lust Tarmac.
Teams from the East Coast of Demerara, 110 Street, Beterverwagting, Sophia, Meadow Brook Gardens, East Ruimveldt and others are expected to participate.
Trophies and medals donated by Bannas Foundation, George Gomes of Calibur Security Services, Kurt Phillips of Antarctic Maintenance Services and Repairs, Brigadier Edward Collins, Prime Minister Samuel Hinds and Akim Barnwell are up for grabs.
The competition is being organised by Johnny ‘Overseas’ Barnwell.
