A Caribbean Airlines flight was unable to land at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport yesterday morning, because of heavy fog.
This newspaper understands that BW 481 had to make an about turn and head back to Trinidad. As a result, the outgoing passengers were left stranded at the airport.
Manager of Carbbean Airlines, Carlton Defour, said that the plane was unable to land as the conditions were unsafe. However, the outgoing passengers were able to get out on another flight later in the day.
There was a similar incident on Sunday night, when there was a delay due to the fog and a flight not being able to land.
Defour said that they had to consolidate two flights and this caused a one-hour delay, but Caribbean Airlines was able to fly everyone out.
