Play in the New Building Society Challenge second division cricket competition continued in Berbice with Strykers of #78 Village trashing Young Royals of Crabwood Creek by a massive 198 runs.
Strykers, led by a stroke filled 107 by Calvin Corts, decorated with nine exquisite fours and four massive sixes, amassed 274-6 in their 40 overs.
When Young Royals batted, Eric Jamisay snatched 7-25 off 8 probing overs to roll the Royals over for a paltry 76. Police were left chasing a winning target of 220 set by Overwinning Bible Church.
Richard Semple, a former Berbice player made and unbeaten 88 spiced up with 11 fours for the cops but only one other batsman reached double figures as the churchmen gained salvation by 14 runs.
Chesney posted 202 but could not defend that against Sand Reef whose middle order batsman Sewdat Ramphal scored 58*, his second half century of the competition which guided his team home by 3 wickets as they finished 204-7.
Ray Samad’s with his second score of more than fifty in the season, 61 helped Flying Star of Korthberadth to defeat Tucber Park by 116 runs.
Other batsmen to hit half centuries for their teams were, Karamchand Shivdyal of Fyrish, Prem Kanhai of Letterkenny Young Star, Chandrakant Narsingh of #69 Vikings and Kewlin Bennett of Hopetown.
