Yesterday, at the AINLIM Complex at East Bank Demerara, there was in attendance a horde of children, who were provided with an opportunity to enjoy the Christmas spirit. The occasion was the annual Children’s Christmas Party hosted by the Associated Industries Limited (AINLIM) at its Alexander Village headquarters.
There was music, dance, and lots to eat and drink. There was also the surprise highlight of the afternoon —entertainment by the Clown.
According to representatives of AINLIM, the event is just one of the many community development projects undertaken by AINLIM, and its popularity has grown significantly with the children.
Mr. George Persaud, Spare Parts Coordinator of AINLIM, said that the children who attended the party were from the communities of Ruimveldt, River View, Yarrow Dam and Alexander Village.
He noted that AINLIM, during the Christmas season, would extend invitations to churches, community centres, and organisations like the Ruimveldt Children’s Aid Centre. Their members would, acting on the invitation, locate children in need and personally invite them.
He added that they try to provide educational gifts that are functional as well as fun for children within the age range of five to seven years.
Public Relations Officer, Miss Rhonda Wilson, said this it is only one of two such parties for the children during this Christmas season; the second party will take place today at the Demerara Oxygen Company Limited (DOCOL), Old Road, Eccles, East Bank Demerara.
