Marlon John, 26, of Edinburgh, who was shot early Sunday morning by an unknown assailant, is currently recuperating at the Georgetown Public Hospital, having been transferred from the New Amsterdam Hospital because of the severity of his injures.
According to police sources, the police are following up some leads that may soon result in the capture of the person responsible for Sunday’s attack.
John was injured in an early morning robbery at East Bank Berbice, in which he was shot in his eye by an unknown assailant.
The incident occurred at around 02:00 hrs at John’s reputed wife’s home in Edinburgh. According to reports, the man, along with his wife and daughter, was in bed when they were aroused by sounds coming from downstairs.
Reports state that the woman opened the bedroom door and, upon seeing a man, quickly tried to lock it back.
The intruder then fired a shot in the woman’s direction, striking John in the left eye. The intruder then proceeded to rob the family of its valuables, which included a quantity of gold jewellery.
The injured man was rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital, but was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital because of the severity of his injures.
Investigating ranks have found a .9mm warhead at the scene. Hospital sources told Kaieteur News that the bullet exited through John’s left side temple. His condition is listed as critical.
