The Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club five (5) cricket teams on Thursday last continued their assistance to the development of cricket in the Ancient County by making donations to the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) under their Patronage Development Programme. The presentation was done at the BCB’s office by representatives of the teams.
Rose Hall Town Farfan and Mendes under-15 and RHT Pepsi under-19 teams handed over 250, 2009 Calendars bearing the Board’s name and information about its operations. The Calendars, a first for the BCB, was printed by members of both teams at the cost of $30,000 and would be distributed to cricket clubs, schools, NGOs, cricketers and sponsors.
Bakewell Second Division team sponsored the printing of a large poster 3ft x 4ft for the launching of the Berbice All Time XI. The RHT Windies Sports Bar first division side handed over one 1000 watts Standby Generator valued $35,000 to the BCB.
RHT Metro Female cricket team handed over cricket gear, educational and hygiene kits worth $80,000 to the No. 51 and 53 clubs in an effort to help them develop the game in their respective communities. Whim Cricket Club also received a set of balls.
Speaking on behalf of the teams, Berbice female under-19 cricketer, Nermala Sewdatt said that as a member of the RHTY&SC one is taught to reach out and make a positive difference in God’s world.
The Club she noted teaches its members not to think of themselves, but others and as such, all cricketers are part of a Personal Development Programme where each team is challenged to complete six (6) projects, annually.
For this year over 30 projects were undertaken by the five teams at a cost of over $2.5 million. The projects included sports, charity, social, religious and educational.
