Warm greetings to Guyanese across our nation as we observe Eid ul Adha. Eid ul Adha is observed after the conclusion of the annual Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca, in Saudi Arabia.
Eid ul Adha is celebrated worldwide in commemoration of the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice his son, Ishmael, as an act of obedience to Allah.
Abraham’s act of submission is regarded as an example of genuine surrender to the Will of Allah.
In Guyana, we will all celebrate with our Muslim brothers and sisters, and join in the eating of delicious food and tasty desserts.
We will all rededicate ourselves to the service of the needy and the less fortunate. We are all our brothers and sisters’ keepers.
Eid continues to be is widely celebrated in Guyana – a Nation of One Land of Many People with One Destiny.
May Allah’s Blessings help all, find, Hope, Faith, and Happiness, and bring into our lives all that are beautiful and pure. Let all of us strive to work with each other to make our nation a better place for all.
