BATH SETTLEMENT, WEST COAST BERBICE – The Bath/Waterloo Nursery School on the West Coast of Berbice received a recreational park recently. The $500,000 facility was made possible through the Aditya Kids Trust Fund Foundation of Bath Settlement.
Representatives of the institution said how thankful they were and what it meant to those attending the facility.
Natasha Singh, a representative of the school’s parent/teachers’ association, had approached the foundation in August with a view to receiving assistance.
At that time, the President of the Aditya Kids Trust Fund Foundation, Narchand Mohan, called ‘Archie,’ of Hawaiian Arctic Inc. of Ontario and formerly of Number Two Village, West Coast Berbice; Vice-President Mahendra Persaud of Bath Settlement; Directors — Premchand Punwassie of Jusmat Transportation Inc. of Ontario and formerly of Port Mourant, Tameshwar Harripersaud of 24 Hrs Glass Installation of Ontario and formerly of Canje, Iqbal Rahaman of IR Construction of Ontario and formerly of Dundee, Mahaicony, and Nasir Ghanny – Management Consultant of Ontario and formerly of Peter’s Hall, East Bank Demerara, were all in Guyana.
The group agreed to help after seeing the needs of the students, and shortly after, the project commenced. The existing playground was upgraded, and a sand box, two sets of swings along with a pair of slides, a pair of see-saws and facilities for playing volleyball were added. The actual facilities were made possible mainly by Mr. and Mrs. Nasir Ghanny.
This was the very school seven-year-old Aditya Ramdhan of Bath Settlement attended. The foundation came into being after his death in September 2007. He was sponsored to undergo cardiac surgery in India, but died after the procedure.
The foundation was conceptualised by Canadian-born Lorraine Kissoon and was formed by Canadian businessmen.
