DeJonge (129), Tanner (8 -24) spur Vryman’s Ervin to 224-run win
The Berbice zone of the Secondary School Under-15, 40-Over Cricket Competition continued recently in the Berbice districts of West Berbice/Mahaicony, Corentyne and New Amsterdam/Canje.
Romario De Jonge slammed 129 (14 fours) which together with 47 from Quacy Kendall spearheaded Vryman’s Erven secondary School to a massive 287 all out in 39.2 Overs against School of the Nations – New Amsterdam. After that his teammate, pacer Orlando Tanner snatched 8 for 24 from 8 overs to almost single-handedly scuttle out Nations for a paltry 63 in reply, bowling Vryman’s Erven to a 224 run win.
Led by 86 from Kevin Ramdeen and 30 from Vivian Fredericks, Berbice Educational Institute made a challenging 220 all out in 35.2 overs against Tutorial Academy Secondary whose Jamal Henry took 4 for 30.
However Henry, who scored 122 for Tutorial in their previous match against New Amsterdam Secondary, did well again here to score 56 (11 fours) which together with 29 from Marlon Shepherd and 20 each from Devendra Jainabi and Glendon De Cunha to help Tutorial persevere to a 2 – wicket win despite B.E.I offspinner Kevin Pellew taking 4 for 40.
At Cumberland, Vryman’s Erven Secondary School beat School of the Nations – New Amsterdam by 224 runs.
Vryman’s Erven Secondary 287 in 39.2 overs with Romario De Jonge 129, Quacy Kendall 47, Orlando Tanner 23, Konata Simpson 3 for 45.
School of the Nations 63 in 18 overs with Orlando Tanner 8-24, Andel De Jonge 2-8.
At Edinburgh, Tutorial Academy Secondary School beat Berbice Educational Institute 220 in 35.2 overs with Kevin Ramdeen 86, Vivian Fredericks 30, Jamal Henry 4 for 30, Steffon Pilgrim 3 for 24.
Tutorial Academy Secondary 221 for 8 in 36.1 overs with Jamal Henry 56, Marlon Shepherd 29, Devendra Jainabi 20, Glendon De Cunha 20 n.o, Kevin Pellew 4 for 40, Kevin Ramdeen 2 for 32.
At Novar, Bush Lot Secondary School beat Mahaicony Secondary School by 104 runs.
Bush Lot Secondary 170 in 28 overs with Iendy Angus 30, Rawle Wade 21, Travis Ross 18, Dunston McCalman 18, O’Donnell Hills 3 for 19, Deswin Butts 2 for 18.
Mahaicony Secondary 66 in 10 overs with Zamin Archibald 31, Iendy Angus 3 for 30, Rennison Mitchell 2 for 4, Kurt Griffith 2 for 31. At Port Mourant, J.C Chandisingh Secondary School beat Corentyne Comprehensive Secondary School by 29 runs.
J.C. Chandisingh Secondary 81 in 31.1 overs with Karamchand Mahaballi 18, Boutnarine Persaud 4 for 12, David Latchaiya 2 for 2, Avinash Wajib 2 for 10.
Corentyne Comprehensive Secondary 52 in 33 overs with Terrence Moonsammy 25, Shilendra Shameer 4 for 7, Kandasammy Surujnarine 2 for 4, Jonathan Ramkissoon 2 for 12.
At Mibicuri, Winifred Gaskin Secondary School beat Black Bush Secondary School by 5 wickets.
