The Beepat’s sponsored Milo/Georgetown Football Association Under-21 League kicked off in a blaze of sunshine, at the Camptown ground in Campbellville and ended in the cool of night at the Tucville ground with 15 goals scored in four matches.
The Guyana Defence Force sunk Flamingo 5-0, Sunburst Camptown got past Beacon 3-1, Santos blanked Georgetown Football Club 4-0 and Fruta Conquerors eased past Alpha United, 2-0.
Playing in the feature game at Camptown ground, the home team prevailed over Beacon 3-1 with Premier League player Richie Richards netting a brace (18 & 24), but the home team had to work hard for their three points.
Richards, who started his career as a goalkeeper, has transformed into a potent striker of the ball up front. His second goal of the match was clinically executed. He collected the ball just over the half way line in the opponents’ half and his speed took care of the rest.
Jamal Blackman pulled one back for Beacon in the 33rd minute, but Camptown’s third goal was hit in on the run by Keifa Small in the 33rd minute to restore their two goal cushion. Small was expelled in the 79th minute for using excessive force against an opposing player.
The opening game at this venue saw the GDF making their debut at this level in grand style, a 5-0 whipping of Flamingo.
Anwar Bacchus banging the nets three times (32, 56 & 67) while Clevon Narain helped himself to a double (63 & 77).
Over at the Tucville ground, Fruta Conquerors took care of Alpha United after a goalless first half, 2-0. Another Premier League player, Manasseh Primo led Conquerors to their win by scoring both goals, in the 60th and 73rd minute.
In the opening salvo, Santos eased past GFC 4-0 with a double off the boot of Delon John (31 & 76) and one each from Abzal Gafoor (45) and Laurex Fraser in the 78th.
