Louise Hopkinson, 30, and Randy Morris, 28, both of East Street, La Penitence, made their first appearance yesterday before Magistrate Faith Mc Gusty at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court, charged separately with unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition.
They both pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The duo was also charged jointly with 20-year-old Adrian Edwards, of Lot 163 Abrahams Street, Anna Regina, with conspiracy to commit a felony, to wit, robbery under arms.
They were not required to plead to the charge.
According to a police report, at around midday on November 27, at Aurora Village, Essequibo Coast, three passengers were in a car on their way to Anna Regina when the vehicle was stopped by a police officer who carried out a search.
It is alleged that Hopkinson was found with a 9mm pistol and live rounds, while Morris had a .38 revolver in a bag he was carrying.
They have been remanded until January 19, 2009.
Meanwhile, Devon Fordyce, 35, of Lot 41 D’Urban Street, Lodge, appeared in the same court charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking. He was also remanded.
It is alleged that he was in a car at Suddie when the police stopped and searched the vehicle. There were reportedly two bags in the trunk that Fordyce claimed ownership of. Those bags contained one and a half kilos of marijuana.
He pleaded not guilty, and his next court date is January 19, 2009.
