DEAR EDITOR,
Every day, commuters have been relating their concerns about the unscrupulous minibus operators, and no action has been taken.
We on the West Coast of Demerara are forced to pay the higher fares still. It is unfair, with the steep drop in gas prices, that we still have to pay the increased fare.
The purpose for the raised fares in the first place was due to the increase in the cost of gasoline, and now that the gasolene price has dropped, the fares should also drop.
As a commuter, I am forced to change my money to get the exact fare to pay these minibus operators, and sometimes they would demand that I pay the increased fare.
It was mentioned that the Minibus Association would soon publish a fare structure for West Demerara. Please, Messrs. Minister and President of the Minibus Association, let us get the fare structures back in the buses, and also in the newspapers, showing the fares.
To those conscientious # 32 minibus operators who take the old fares (they are very few), thank you.
The increases in fares are putting a strain on our pockets.
