Nov 30, 2008 Features / Columnists, Freddie Kissoon
I got an email from a stranger last night who sent me a letter written by a person who signed as Jean Rosen, printed since March this year in the Chronicle.
The sender wanted to know why I did not respond to that publication attacking me since, according to the sender; “it gives you (me) much scope for addressing the hardened nature of the PPP.”
I do not read the Chronicle and the Guyana Times. I would not because the news of what good things the Government is doing is contained in both the Kaieteur News and the Stabroek News.
Kaieteur News and the Stabroek News will have pictures of the President opening the Berbice Bridge (hopefully not named after any PPP leader). But they will also have news items about what Mr. Corbin or Mr. Trotman say about the Government.
The Chronicle and the Guyana Times will not feature news about the opposition movement so why buy and read these two dailies?
The March missive is written by Jean Rosen who also writes as Jean Ramroop. I know which PPP leader that is. I know which PPP leader composes letters under the false signature of Oliver Sam.
The correspondence is titled, “Freddie Kissoon’s articles are riddled with suppositions.” Three basic points Rosen/Ramroop makes. One – Many of the negative developments in Guyana that the media rant about happens in quite a number of countries. Two – The Guyana Government, like so many other governments, will have its share of opportunists that will use their friendship with decision-makers to their own advantage. Three – media operatives will be more credible when they attack the Guyana Government with evidence of wrong-doing.
This letter of Jean Rosen is a huge indication that there may be some special genes inside of them that drive them to see mischief in every human being that criticizes the wrong things the PPP does and have been doing.
I am grateful this assessment was mailed to me because indeed the sender was right; it does give the analyst enormous scope for addressing the Guyanese people on the genetic faults of those who ran Guyana in the sixties and continue to run it since 1992. This commentary by Jean Rosen is replete with odious, offensive, miasmic lies and nauseating denials. It is a truly sick piece of writing.
Let us comment on all three threads of Rosen’s polemic. First, it is true that many other governments do worse things than our governors here. But when international exposure comes, you see attempts at redemption.
The EU has been warning Bulgaria for months now about corruption and there have been improvements. Jimmy Carter wants nothing more to do with the PPP Government because it does not respond to international rebuke.
Secondly, there is the role of opportunists in influencing their friends in government. The PPP cabal has one of the worst balance sheets in the entire world when it comes to the latitude and protection these opportunists are given.
One of the nicest Guyanese you can meet, who currently works at the United Nations and who Jean Rosen finds a very pleasant person, complained to me of the horribly humiliating treatment she got at the hands of a high Ministry of Finance official over her duty free car. This was one of the 999 complaints I got about this man.
I wrote President Jagdeo urging the castigation of this fellow whom I assessed as damaging the image and credibility of the PPP Government.
The man was encouraged and promoted. This man is close to the person who writes as Jean Ramroop. These opportunists that Jean Rosen writes about are Guyana’s untouchables.
Jean Ramroop does not write about them but instead chose to use her lying pen against Frederick Kissoon.
Finally, Jean Rosen wants media operatives to back up their accusations with evidence.
The same Jean Rosen or Jean Ramroop refused to accept evidence of sexual molestation made against a high-level PPP cadre by the cousin of one of Guyana’s leading journalists.
The same Jean Rosen dismissed evidence of collusion between businessmen and PPP parliamentarians in evading Customs duties.
Jean Ramroop or Jean Rosen wants proof. I got the evidence of a duty free car that was wrongly awarded to one of the members of the extensive Jagan family tree and spoke to Robert Persaud about it. I was never contacted again.
Are there some special genes in the PPP leaders that make them such barefaced liars? That March letter is testimony to this genetic flaw that prevents these people from confronting the truths about their government. One day soon, these genetically flawed leaders will be swept out of power by a Velvet Revolution. It is coming soon.
