The Berbice zone of the National Secondary School 40-overs under-15 cricket competition continued recently in Disricts five (West Berbice / Mahaicony), six (Corentyne) and 15 (New Amsterdam / Canje)
Berbice under-15 right-arm leg spinner Shawn Perreira was in fine form as bowlers dominated the latest fixtures.
Bowling for Corentyne Comprehensive Secondary, Perreira took 6 for 11 in 7.3 overs to register the competition’s best bowling figures as Port Mourant Community High crashed to 68 all out.
Another leg spinner, Arif Khan took 5 for 10 from 3 overs to help J.C. Chandisingh dismiss Lower Corentyne Secondary for 88 replying to 204- 8 from 40 overs. Kandasammy Surujnarine smashed nine fours in an entertaining 69.
Nicolai Ceres’ 5 for 14 from 4 overs bowled Skeldon High to a 44-run victory over Tagore Memorial Secondary. Left-arm spinner Kumar Sirikissoon took 5 for 13 from 7 overs for Black Bush Secondary who lost to Central Corentyne Secondary after he had top scored with 44 with the bat.
Another leg-spinner, Anthony Fordyce with 5 for 22 from 8 overs for Belladrum Secondary but saw his sterling effort go to waste as his team was defeated by Bush Lot Secondary
