Dear Editor,
I am appalled to read in your Kaieteur News, dated 24-11-2008, that $4,000,000 is missing from the Police Finance Department.
I am even more appalled to read that one of the policemen paid back $1,000,000. That policeman should have been charged and placed before the courts along with the rest of policemen, pending the outcome of the investigation.
I can remember reading an article about another policeman who went to uplift his salary at Tactical Service Unit and he was arrested and placed on $50,000 cash bail, based on information given saying that he was not a member of the Force, without seeing a dismissal letter.
Subsequently, this policeman was placed before the courts for uttering a forged letter to uplift his own salary. That makes no sense. What goes for one goes for all.
