The internationally renowned Nestle Company has scored a 1.3 million dollar goal with its support of 19th Kashif and Shanghai (K&S) Football tournament, Guyana’s premiere competition.
Mere hours after introducing the Nestle Brand of Ice Cream, the World’s number one, at Edy’s located in the Bakewell complex, Albert Street and North Road, Business Export Manager for the Caribbean Region, Elias Munoz announced their partnership with the Kashif and Shanghai Organisation at a simple ceremony.
Nestle’s sponsorship will cover the second prize of $500,000, a number of tee shirts and trophies.
In brief remarks, Munoz stated that he was pleased on behalf of Nestle and Prestige Distributors to be endorsing the Kashif and Shanghai tournament. “We know it’s a big thing here in Guyana and we are more than pleased to be a part of it and we look forward to great turnouts at the games.”
Treasurer of K&S Troy Mendonca in response noted that it is relationships of this nature that helps to build the tournament.
“We are very grateful for this presentation which is also timely.” Meanwhile, the team briefing is expected to be held this Friday at a venue and time to be confirmed.
Sixteen clubs including one from Trinidad and Tobago will do battle in this year’s tournament which has at stake one million as the top prize.
President Bharrat Jagdeo, the Government of Guyana and the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sport are also on board with the latter sponsoring the Rupununi team that is expected to be tough opponents for the other teams competing.
