Cullen defeated United Brothers by 10 wickets in the final of the GTM 10 overs Softball cricket competition last Saturday at the Anna Regina Community Centre Ground on the Essequibo Coast.
United Brothers, who got past Reliance in the first semi-final, won the toss and elected to bat, making 110 for 7 off their allotted 10 overs.
Shannon Jagmohan top scored with 26 while Raymond Beaton supported with 20 as man-of-the-match Patrick Rooplall bagged 2 – 15 from 2 overs.
Cullen, who overcame Belle Plaine Stars in the second semi-final, then raced to victory in first 7 overs ending on 111 without loss.
Rooplall returned with the bat to hit 90 not out (13×6) while Ravindra Dass was unbeaten on 17. Cullen took the winning trophy and $80,000, while runner’s up United Brothers collected $40,000 for their efforts.
Rooplall, who collected $5,000 for the man-of-the-match award, also took away the $10,000 prize for the best batsman and bowler in the competition.
