The Guyana Police Force has reportedly uncovered a massive fraud at its main finance office at Eve Leary.
Sources told this newspaper that the fraud involves about $4M.
According to one source, four ranks including two sergeants are implicated in the fraud.
Kaieteur News understands that one of the ranks have reportedly repaid $1M, while the others were placed under close arrest.
Meanwhile, police at the Brickdam Police Station are investigating the theft of a quantity of cash belonging to a sergeant at the Enquiries Office.
According to reports, the sergeant reported to work and placed her bag on a desk and went to perform other chores.
When she returned she discovered that her purse with US$30 and $5000GY was missing from her bag.
Several ranks who were at the station at the time were questioned but no one has been positively fingered.
