Jamal Blackman nets fastest goal (7 seconds)

Seven more teams have recorded wins when play in the First Guinness ‘Greatest of De Street’ four-a-side football competition continued on Broad Street before a large and colorful crowd on Saturday night.
Not only spectators from the Charlestown area and its close environs came out but from all around the city to enjoy some exciting and skillful action and they were not disappointed as seven wins and a single draw was the order of the night.
In the feature clash, former national player Norris ‘Fudgy’ Carter netted the lone goal to lead Norton Street Werk en Rust against home team, Broad Street. Carter’s goal, which was netted in the first half, silenced the noisy Broad Street posse which went away a dejected bunch.
East Front Road blanked Bent Street (Lower) 2-0; Devon Cassius (3rd) and Nash Moe in the 11th were the players on target.
National player Travis ‘Zorro’ Grant scored in the 11th and Colin Daniels two minutes later to secure victory for North Ruimveldt over Back Circle 2-0.
Plaisance also won by a 2-0 margin over Charlotte Street. Kerwin Bacchus (5) and Chris Gomes (14), converting.
Tucville Big Yard won an exciting duel against Kitty 3-1. J. Lloyd gave Tucville the lead after seven minutes of action an advantage which was doubled one minute later when Chris Duggan scored the first of his double. Wendell St. Hill pulled one back for Kitty in the 9th minute but Duggan put the game out of their reach with another in the 11th minute.
Queen Street Tiger Bay won the battle of the Bay teams, out hustling Albert Street Tiger Bay 3-0. Jamal Blackman fired in a double including the fastest goal of the tournament to date, seven seconds into the match; the other in the 11th minute. Keoma Gravesande netted in the 4th.
Meadow Brook Square and East La Penitence battled to a 1-1 tie, Othello Carter banged in a first minute strike for Meadow Brook but Trevon Lythcott drew La Penitence level in the 9th. Albouystown was awarded a walk over from Hadfield Street.
The competition wagon will now move to the East Ruimveldt Basketball Tarmac tomorrow where eight more first round matches will be contested.
