After emphatic 168-run win against Leeward Islands
Barbados will face Trinidad and Tobago in the historic President’s Cup Day/Night regional one-day cricket final today after their emphatic 168-run win against an outclassed Leeward Islands in the second semi-final at the Guyana National Stadium last night.
Twenty-five year old Dwayne Smith hit a magnificent 65-ball 82, while Dale Richards (62) and Ryan Hinds (75) also registered half-centuries as Barbados made 295-5 off 50 overs after they elected to bat on a good track for batting.
The versatile Smith, who has played 10 Tests and 71 ODIs for the West Indies, returned to take 3-16 opening the bowling with his medium pace as only Tonito Willett, who hit a fighting 51 from 72 balls and Justin Athanaze who remained unbeaten on 36, offered resistance as the Islanders crashed to 127 all out in 37.4 overs.
