LBI, Grove, Kitty in winners’ row
LBI, Grove and Kitty all recorded wins when play in the Bakewell/Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) 15 overs Inter Jamaat softball cricket competition continued last weekend.
At the MYO ground, Peter’s Hall took first strike against LBI and were bowled out for 128 off their allotted overs. Brother Mohamed top scored with 48 and Mansoor Khan 22. Salim Khan was the leading bowler with 5 wickets with Faizul Ally claiming 2 for LBI who cruised to 131-4 to win comfortably.
LBI also defeated Kitty. Rahman Ally stroked 59 and Javed Campbell 31*, for Peters Hall Shameer Khan had 3 wickets.
Over at the National Park, Grove batted first against Sister’s Jamaat, smashing their way to an imposing 232-4. Leading the run spree was Asif Khan with 71 and Shameer Ghannie 52 runs. Extras contributed a healthy 25. Sisters made a gallant effort to win but were bowled out 47 runs short of the target at 185. Extras was the top scorer with 45, Imran Ally chipped in with 42.
For Grove, Shafeek Ishmael and Shameer Ghannie took 3 and 2 wickets respectively. Sisters Jamaat rebounded to defeat Cornelia Ida in their other match and Grove got a walkover from Lusignan.
And Kitty were bowled out for 113 against Mocha Arcadia who feared even worst when they responded and were sent packing for 103 to lose by 10 runs.
Haroon Khan made 34 and Imran Ally 15 for the winners while Khalid Dawaud was the main run getter for Mocha Arcadia with 38.
In the other match played, MYO got the better of New Mosque.
Play is scheduled to continue today with five matches. At the MYO ground from 09:00hrs, Farm B oppose MYO to be followed by a clash between Farm A, who will then be involved in back to back matches against Triumph and then Hustlers XI, with the final match of the day between Kitty and Peter’s Hall.
The lone fixture set for the National Park brings together Cornelia Ida and Success.
