Yesterday, soldiers of the USS Kearsarge engineering team were busy applying the finishing touches to the East Ruimveldt Community Centre.
On site, engineers were seen filling potholes at the entrance to the community centre. And the final touches were done on the play area which has been constructed at the site.
A spanking perimeter fence has also been constructed by the team. Other rehabilitative work has also been done to the community centre, which also houses a nursery school.
The newly renovated facility is expected to be handed over today, as the USS Kearsarge will be hosting a closing ceremony at the centre to mark the end of its 2008 mission.
And even as the finishing touches were being applied, some children of the East Ruimveldt community were already enjoying the swings and slides constructed by the mission.
