Another army lieutenant is being court martialled, but this time for disobeying the standing orders of the Guyana Defence Force.
Second Lieutenant R. Warden was stationed at Eteringbang in August 2007 when he contravened the standing orders by granting permission to a party of civilians to conduct mining operations in the army camp.
He is also charged with failing to report the mining operations within the army camp between August and September 2007. If convicted, the lieutenant could face imprisonment.
The members of the court are Woman Major N. Stanford; Capt M.B. Chichester; Capt R. Parsram; Capt D. Carter and Lieutenant P. Doris.
The president is Major I. McNaughton, while Justice Oslen Small is the Judge Advocate. Lt Warden is being represented by attorney-at-law Patrice Henry. The prosecutor is Ms Narissa Stewart.
