The police are still hunting for a man who reportedly shot his girlfriend in what appears to be retaliation for her severing their relationship.
Sophia Pitman-Boston, 22, of La Grange, West Bank Demerara, is nursing a gunshot wound to her right side chest, after she was attacked by her ex-boyfriend, at about 20:00 hours on Tuesday at Robb and Cummings Streets, Bourda.
Police, in a press release, stated that the woman was walking along the roadway when she was confronted by a man with whom she had recently ended a relationship.
According to the police, the man pulled out a handgun and shot the woman in her chest before escaping.
Pitman-Boston was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where she was admitted a patient.
Kaieteur News understands that the suspect was remanded to prison for stealing a motorcycle belonging to a policeman.
A source said that it was during his period of incarceration that the woman decided to end the relationship with him.
The suspect was recently released from prison, and apparently became angry that his attempts to win back the woman’s friendship had proven futile.
