Mitchell claims 82nd consecutive raceNational champion Rudolph Mitchell scored his 82nd consecutive win at Linden when the Cavaliers Sports Club organized Linden Tourism Month walk race was held yesterday.
The race started from the Wismar/Mackenzie Bridge’s Wismar end, proceeded along the Winifred Gaskin Road to finish outside the Bayrock Community Centre ground. There were 35 starters.
Second was Kevin Mitchell and third Jeremy Cornelius of Kuru Kuru.
First female to finish was Shonette McFarlene with Samantha Milling second. Amputee Andre Richards the first among the disabled and nine year old Jasmin Louise was the youngest finisher.
The trophies for this event were donated by Prime Minister Samuel Hinds, Chief of Staff of the Guyana Defence Force Commodore Gary Best, the Region Ten Tourism Development Association and the President’s Youth Award.
David Kirton who planned the event indicated that on December 14th another race is slated for Linden from Amelia’s ward to Wisroc.
He also thanked the Linden Town Council and the Guyana Police Force for their support.
