CB&R Mining Establishment threw tangible support behind the I Movement Promotions Super Eight football tournament, which is being staged in collaboration with the Bartica Football Association.
The event, which commences Wednesday, November 19 at the Bartica Community Centre ground, will see the teams battling in what is expected to be a keenly contest competition for an attractive $500,000 winners purse.
CB&R Mining official Ganga Persaud this week presented sponsorship support to the tune of $100,000 to Khalil Khan representing I Movement Promotions. They have become the latest entity after several in the Bartica community ploughed their support behind Promoter I Salam and his team for a successful hosting of the tournament.
Platinum Inc. Hotel and Service Station of Bartica, one of the major sponsors recently presented a cheque for $500,000 to Promoter I Salam, representing the top prize for the event.
Freddy and Raffie Butchery donated the trophy for the winner of the tournament.
Several other entities have lent their support to the staging of the event; among them are the Regional Administration, Banks DIH, Double Platinum Service Station, Classic Boutique, Pure Diamond Inc., Shawn Autobody Works, Modern Hotel, Giovanni’s Restaurant, Dinos Investment, Kenneth Williams, Trinity Document Centre, Morocco Restaurant, Atkinson Trading and Bice Taxi Service.
The teams for the tournament have been split into two groups with the early stages being a round robin format then the top side’s progress to the knockout phase to determine the teams clashing in the final.
Group A features: Indio Mining, Unknown Warrior, I Movement Eagles and Mighty Ruler.
Group B will have: Sheriff Ball Weavers, Klassic Super Stars, Pure Diamond King and Platinum Gulley Side Warriors.
In Wednesday’s opening action, Indio Mining come up against Mighty Rulers, while Sheriff Ball Weavers oppose Pure Diamond.
Thursday, the second night of competition will see Unknown Warriors challenging I Movement Eagles, with the nightcap bringing together Klassic Super Stars and Platinum Gulley Side Warriors.
