The Guyana Football Federation has ruled that the disputed semi-final of the Namilco Football Festival between Sunburst Camptown and Alpha United be replayed. Compliments of the Guyana Power and Light Company, the semi-final was affected by black out on Friday last at the Tucville ground. The organisers, Fruta Conquerors Football Club had decided that the game be replayed last Saturday and then the final on Sunday.
But Alpha lodged a protest highlighting that it was against football rules for a team to be involved in back to back matches without the required recovery time.
It was on this basis the GFF made their decision which the organisers have accepted.
When the game was called off Alpha were ahead 2-1 with 17 minutes remaining.
The replayed fixture will be a ding dong battle with the winner facing BK International Western Tigers in the final on Sunday November 30 at the national Stadium, Providence.
A supporting U-21 clash between Buxton United, the 2008 Mackeson/East Demerara Football Association senior champions and Fruta Conquerors will precede Sunday’s semi-final match up at the Tucville ground.
