Former West Indies under-19 opener Richard Ramdeen lashed a brutal 112 with seven fours and eight sixes to spur Young Warriors to a five wicket win against Blairmont in the latest round of action in the Berbice zone of the National Gafoor’s 20/20 cricket competition last Friday.
Ramdeen’s innings, with support from national under-19 batsman Seon Hetmyer (23) reached 172-5 in reply to Blairmont’s 168-6.
Karamdat Bessondial hit 86 and Ramesh Balram 39 for Blairmont as Balram Samaroo took 3-24 and Hetymyer took 2-33. Ramdeen and Hetmyer then clobbered 84 runs for the fourth wicket in 7.4 overs as Eon Abel took 2-34 in a losing effort for the West Bank Berbice side.
At Albion, first class spinners Veerasammy Permaul (4-33) and Davendra Bishoo (4-26) bowled Albion to a two run win over Rose Hall Town Windies Sports Bar.
Test player Narsingh Deonarine hit 47 from 32 balls and got back up from Bishoo (21) and former Guyana 20/20 hero Imran Khan hit 21 for Albion as Renrick Batson took 2-24 before Assad Fudadin (28) and the experienced Andre Percival (26) offered some fight for Rose Hall Town Windies Sports Bar.
At Scotsburg, Junior McCalmont grabbed 5-5 as Upper Corentyne were skittled out for 32 in 9.2 overs after Scotsburg had made 163-6 in a loop-sided contest.
Clarence Beresford (54), Alex Amsterdam (49) and Anthony Bramble (33) were the main scorers for the hosts.
At Skeldon, Devendra Thakurdeen smashed eight fours and three sixes in 89 and Moshin Perkhan hammered 11 fours in an unbeaten 81 to help Port Mourant to a 99-run win against Skeldon.
National under-17 player Clinton Pestano, strangely being allowed to play 20/20 cricket, was slaughtered for 59 runs in four overs and took two wickets after Thakurdeen and Perkhan added 152 for the first wicket.
Yogendra Harrinarine (3-24), Krishna Balgobin (2-11) and Rajiv Ivan (2-26) were the main wicket-takers for the winners.
At Rose Hall Canje, Maxi DeJonge, bowing medium pace, took 4-15 and got support from former Guyana under-15 player Julian Moore (2-21) as Bermine beat Police by two runs.
National under-19 Skipper Eugene La Fleur (34) and Guyana regional one-day stand-by batsman Devon Clements (28) rallied Bermine 123-5 as Albert Sinclair grabbed 2-18.
The Cops then reached 121-7 when their 20 overs expired with Michael Saul (39) and Sinclair (38) batted well for the Lawmen.
