Prison officials and their counterparts in the Guyana Police Force have launched a manhunt for a prisoner who escaped from the Lusignan Prison yesterday.
Terry Van Sertima, 31, of Zeelugt, West Coast Demerara escaped while on duties in the prison farm on the East Coast of Demerara.
Kaieteur News understands that Van Sertima was serving a three-year sentence for larceny from the person, larceny of a bicycle and larceny of a horse.
He has been in prison since last March.
Officials believe that he may be heading to his home village after they unsuccessfully combed the areas surrounding the Lusignan Prison.
