Three men, one of them Guyanese, have appeared before magistrates in connection with a conspiracy to import £10 million of cocaine.
Chris Foile, 41, of Bran End, Stebbing; Neil Tindling, 32, of Gynesdale Crescent, Bishops Stortford; and Guyanese Brandon Coates, 34, of Morley, Leeds, appeared before Chelmsford Magistrates Court in Essex, London, last week, charged with conspiracy to evade the prohibition of the importation of illegal substances, between April 1 and November 4.
The court heard that the men were arrested in connection with a plot to illegally import 225 kilos of high-grade cocaine, which has an estimated value of £10 million.
The court was told if the cocaine was mixed with other substances, it could have a street re-sale value of up to £30 million.
The men were arrested at a barn in High Easter, near Chelmsford, following a Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) operation which tracked a cargo shipment from Rotterdam, in the Netherlands, to Harwich and on to High Easter.
All three men were remanded into custody to appear before Chelmsford Crown Court on January 26.
