PPP/C congratulates Obama

The People’s Progressive Party extends its sincere congratulations to President-elect Barack Obama and to the Democratic Party of the USA for the resounding victory that they scored at the November 4, 2008 elections.
This is a great victory for the people of the United States as well, the party said.
“This is a historic event since Mr Obama is the first African-American to be elected to the highest office of the United States. This is a clear indication of how far the U.S. has travelled in respect of race relations.
It is an event that inspires hope for all peoples struggling everywhere for equality and freedom.
“Mr Obama will take over the office in the midst of several great problems confronting the U.S. and the world. “The grave financial crisis that has gripped the United States and the world is one of the big issues that have to be confronted.
“Moreover, the wars that are raging in Iraq and Afghanistan and Pakistan, together with the plight of the Palestinian people, are all crying out for solutions.
“Mr Obama’s administration will hopefully bring a more enlightened position on the ecological crisis that is facing the world and threatening the very existence of our planet.”
In extending, once again, best wishes to Mr Obama and his team, the PPP expressed the hope that a new partnership between North and South, East and West can be forged to bring about a New Global Human Order.
