Guyana’s ‘Golden Jaguars’ came from behind to earn a draw in a game they dominated against St Kitts when they opened their campaign in this the Trinidad and Tobago leg of the Digicel Caribbean Championships as they seek to book a spot in the final stage in Jamaica.
They had good ball possession, but failed to press forward enough in the attacking 3rd. Ian Lake capitalised and opened the scoring in the 29th minute for St. Kitts. However, prolific goalscorer Gregory ‘Jackie Chan’ Richardson leveled in the 35th for Guyana.
Kaieteur Sports Frankie Wilson, who is in T&T covering the game, noted that, “…Guyana needed to show more nip in the forward line. They looked good but lacked that punch upfront.”
The ‘Golden Jaguars’ started with John Rodrigues, Howard Lowe, Walter Moore Carey Harris, Howard Newton, Gregory Richardson, Collie Hercules, Charles Pollard Dwight Peters, Kayode McKinnon and Richard Reynolds.
Dwain Jacobs, Randolph Jerome and Shawn Bishop came in for Peters, Newton and Hercules in the 66, 76, 86 minutes, but Guyana failed to get the go ahead goal in what is being noted as an average performance.
Meanwhile, Antigua led host Trinidad and Tobago 1-0 with 60 minutes gone in the contest up to press time last evening. See full details tomorrow.
