Police release boyfriend
Police have released the boyfriend of 29-year-old Anjanie Madhoo, whose body was discovered last Wednesday in a trench at La Bonne Intention, East Coast Demerara.
The man, who lives at Success, was detained hours after the woman’s body was discovered.
Police were trying to establish how Madhoo, who resided at Alexander Village, ended up on East Coast Demerara.
They believe that she had visited her boyfriend on Monday, the day she was last seen alive by her parents.
However, the source said that the man has maintained that he did not see the woman that day.
After several days of interrogation the man was released on station bail.
A post mortem examination revealed that Madhoo died as a result of a beating.
Madhoo’s body was fished out of a trench at La Bonne Intention, East Coast Demerara, near the LBI Pay Office at around 07:00 hours on Wednesday.
At the time no one knew who the woman was but by 16:00 hours, her father, Madhoo, called ‘Dado’, identified the body as Anjanie Madhoo, called Pinky.
Family members had missed the woman and had made a report to the police.
Kaieteur News understands that the woman did go to work and left at the stipulated time.
Detectives believe that the woman may have traveled to the East Coast on Monday night to observe the Diwali celebrations at the LBI Community Centre Ground.
But they are still baffled since the body initially appeared to have no marks of violence.
