Former West Indies under-19 left-hander Assad Fudadin starred with the ball as Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) beat Transport Sports Club (TSC) on Saturday at Bourda in the latest round of the Georgetown Cricket Association 40-overs first division cricket competition.
At Bourda, GCC galloped to a five-wicket victory as the 23-year-old Fudadin, who played for the West Indies in both the under-15 and under-19 World Cup finals and has three fifties from 21 first-class matches, tormented the batsmen with his off-spin as TSC fell for 110.
Former National under-19 batsman Vishal Singh then continued his good form since his return from his first English season with a solid unbeaten 48 while Fudadin made 18 to see the hosts to 114-5.
Shane Cummings (31) and Singh’s 2007 Guyana under-19 team mate Kellon Carmichael (23) were the only TSC batsmen to offer token resistance on a flat track while leg-spinner Travis Blyden (2-27) bowled well in a losing effort for TSC.
In the other match played on Saturday, Everest, led by an unbeaten 56 from in-form former national under-19 player Troy Gonsalves and 44 from ex-Guyana youth opener Chris Pattadin, beat Police seven wickets at Everest.
Police reached 143-9 off their allotted 40 overs with Reginald Rodrigues hitting 47 as the leg-spin trio of Gonsalves (3-36), West Indies under-15 cricketer Amir Khan (2-24) and former Guyana under-19 player Rakesh Goberdhan (2-23) did the damage with the ball for Everest who reached 145-3 in17 overs.
