A team defeat B team by 7 runs
Noitgedacht sports club A Team defeated the B Team by 7 runs as the club celebrated its 20th Anniversary on Tuesday last with a 40 overs cricket match at Noitgedacht cricket ground.
Watched by a large and colourful crowd, the A Team batted first and made 260 all out in 35 overs with Dilon Retemiah top scoring with 97 while Deonarine Persaud and Trevor Stewart supported well with 32 and 25 respectively.
Medium pacer Randolph Harry grabbed 3 – 49, while Anthony Osborne and Zayad Khan captured two wickets each for the B Team, while there were two wickets each for man-of-the-match Dillon Retemiah, Mitroy Soloman and Victor Wong.
After the game, which was sponsored by the club and was played with white balls and coloured clothing, chairman of the club Trevor Stewart encouraged the younger members to take the game seriously and continue to train hard noting that some of their members have represented Essequibo and Guyana at the Junior levels.
Stewart also said that the club has a number of talented youngsters who can go a far way in the game, singling out 14 year old allrounder Rahaman Khan, Neil Ramalho and Randolph Harry. He also said that the captain of Essequibo female inter county team Althea Newark comes from the Noitgedacht Sports Club.
Stewart further encouraged the females to get more involve in the sport, sighting a number of girls who play for club in local competitions.
