British helicopters have been dispatched to the Mazaruni after a foreign aircraft disappeared in that area yesterday.
Reports reaching Kaieteur News last evening stated that the aircraft, which was hired to do geophysical survey for a private mining company, disappeared just after 15:00 hrs.
A geophysical survey refers to the systematic collection of data for spatial studies.
Geophysical surveys may use a great variety of sensing instruments, and data may be collected from above or below the Earth’s surface, or from aerial or marine platforms.
This newspaper was told that British helicopters which are currently in Guyana were dispatched to the area with the help of the Guyana Defence Force.
