Defending champions Notredame of Barbados, GT All Stars, Pele and GFC have advanced to the semi-finals of the Banks Beer/Kick International Masters football tournament after finishing in the top two of group A and B, yesterday.
GT All Stars toped group A after victory against Rastafari Patriarchs (2-0) and respective 0-0 draws against Notredame and Thomas United. Their win over the Patriarchs came on day one, Friday, Mortimer Stewart netting both goals.
Defending champs Notredame ended as the runner up in the group after drawing with Thomas United and the All Stars 0-0, their only win coming against the Patriarchs, 1-0.
All the group A matches were contested at the Carifesta Sports Complex ground.
In group B play at the GFC ground, GFC ended at the top of the group after victory over Western Tigers 1-0 and draws against Pele 0-0 and Carib Masters 1-1.
Pele took the runner up spot recording a win over Carib Masters 3-0, the largest margin of victory in any of the group matches, drew with GFC 0-0 and lost to Western 1-0.
Edison Carol scored twice for Pele in their win over Carib Masters, Randolph Pedro netting the other.
Robin Hawker converted the goals for the Carib team who drew with GFC and edged Western 1-0.
The championship ends this evening with the final and presentation.
Semi-final play this morning from 09:00hrs will see GT All Stars facing Pele and GFC opposing Notredame.
The Plate playoffs will also be contested today, all matches being contested at the GFC ground. The presentation is scheduled for 18:00hrs.
