Thirty-one-year-old Dennis Simon, aka ‘Wah-Wah’, of Reliance, Essequibo Coast, was sentenced to four years’ imprisonment by Magistrate Faith Mc Gusty after he was convicted on nine charges on Wednesday.
The charges were break and enter and larceny, two counts of committing a felony, two counts of simple larceny, two counts of burglary, and robbery under arms.
According to the prosecution, between May 12 and May 13, 2007, at Reliance, Simon stole one knife from Esther Conway. For that offence he received three years. For burglarising Janice Osborne’s property, he was sentenced to another three years in jail. For committing a felony on Basdai Rani and Lalita Kumar, he was jailed for two years; for the two charges of simple larceny committed on Tamesh Ram and Rooplall Tackoordoon, he received another two years.
According to a police report, on Friday, May 18, 2007, at Mainstay, he stole a BMX cycle from Tamesh Ram, and on November 10, 2005, at Land of Plenty, he stole one mountain climber cycle.
For the offence of burglary committed on Padmenie Rampersaud, Simon will serve another three years; and for robbery under arms committed on the Regional Administration, he will serve another four years.
Simon pleaded guilty to all nine charges.
Presently, Simon is also serving an 18-month term for escaping from lawfully custody. The charges will run currently.
And Charity resident Emelda Benn was refused bail by Magistrate Faith Mc Gusty when she made her first appearance at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court on a charge of administering a noxious substance to her neighbour, who is a minor.
According to police, on October 28 last, at Charity, Benn gave Gramoxone to an unnamed minor, who remains hospitalized.
