Port Mourant, led by the experience of national senior player Hoomchand Pooran created the first upset in the Ansa Mc Al Trading 10/10 cricket tournament when they defeated favorites Young Warriors by 5 wickets at the Rose Hall Canje Welfare ground.
Batting first after losing the toss, Young Warriors struggled to 71-8 off their allotted 10 overs. The dangerous and hard hitting Farouk Hussain was sent back off the first ball of the match, caught on the mid wicket boundary by pacer Yogindra Harrinarine.
His replacement, Waheid Edwards top scored with 24 which included 4 boundaries, Richard Ramdeen and R. Kassim supported with 14 and 12 respectively.
Off spinner Rajendra Bolo spun webs around the Young Warriors batsmen grabbing 4-7 from 2 overs. Pacer Yogindra Harrinarine backed up with 2-18. In reply Port Mourant lost opener Devendra Thakurdeen for a duck in the 2nd over with the score on 6.
Port Mourant overhauled the target as they reached 72-5 off 9.5 overs. Moshin Perkhan 20 and Rajiv Ivan scored 15. Bowling for the Young Warriors, Farouk Hussain took 3-10.
Port Mourant with the victory booked a place in the semi-finals where they would clash with Albion for a chance to play Rose Hall Town Windies Sports Bar at the Area ‘H’ ground next Sunday.
