Rugby returns to the National Park this afternoon from 16:00hrs when the Guyana Over-35 male Enthusiasts battle their Trinidad and Tobago counterparts in a friendly match that nets the winner bragging rights.
Despite featuring the veterans, the 15-a-side affair is expected to deliver much action and fans are advised to visit the venue and be a part of the excitement.
The local team will be drawn from the Caribs, Hornets and the Guyana Defence Force, the three leading rugby clubs.
Guyana will be fielding a formidable team that comprises three line players; Robin Roberts, Henry Wilkie (winger) and Christopher O’Donoghue (inside right).
The three forward or pack players are, William Blackman (flanker), Vernon Duncan (hooker) and Terrence McCalmont (flanker).
Other members of the team are Alton Agard, Ovid Austin, Conrad Arjoon, Leonard Butcher, Peter Campayne, Alair George, Kenneth Grant-Stuart, Wayne Lawson, Sean Laundry, Linden Rose, Lawrence Smith, Sherlock Solomon, Bertram Taylor, Raul Warren and Troy Yhip. The Over-35 Rugby Club has been in existence since 1992 and its President is Colonel John Lewis.
