Buxton United further strengthened their dominance at the top of the leader board with yet another victory in the Mackeson/East Demerara Football Association senior league with victory over Golden Stars by the odd goal in three on Thursday night at the Plaisance Community centre ground. The win move them to 19 points, six clear of their Golden Stars who still occupy the second spot.
Leading striker Clive Andries maintained his rich scoring form when he banged in Buxton United’s first goal in the 4th minute. Tem minutes later, Orson Washington doubled the advantage when he found the back of the nets.
Golden Stars pulled one back in the 35th minute through a Quacy Haley goal. The second half saw a goal drought as no other goals materialised.
The other game on Thursday evening ended in a 1-1 stalemate between home team Plaisance and defending division one champs BV/Triumph United who continue to struggle.
The home team took the lead in the 47th minute compliments of a John Heliger strike but Delroy Deen secured the draw for BV when he scored 9 minutes later.
Tomorrow, another double header will be contested at the BV ground. Black Stallion open against Bakewell Buxton Stars at 14:00hrs with the main game between Victoria Kings and BV Triumph United.
