Randy Joseph, 24, of 24 Company Road, Buxton, and Levi Williams, 22, of 12 Norton Street Lodge, were both remanded to prison when they made their first court appearance before acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday, to answer a robbery charge.
It is alleged that the two robbed Frank Gill, on October 17, of two gold bangles valued at $265,000. It is also alleged that the two used violence on Gill during or after the robbery. They both pleaded not guilty.
Their attorney asked that the “young men” be afforded reasonable bail, and said there is no likelihood that the defendants would interfere with the virtual complainant.
However, police prosecutor Denise Griffith noted that the two are no strangers to the courts, adding that they were previously charged with similar offences.
The prosecution further added that the defendants pose possible interference with Gill. She further told the court that they were seen doing so right in the courtroom.
The two were remanded, and are expected to make their next court appearance on November 7.
